Afterword
From observing the lifestyle of both a person with a food intolerance and a person without, we have gained many valuable insights. First, we realized that keeping a food journal is beneficial for both a person with a food intolerance, and a person without one. Obviously for the food intolerant person, they become aware of the foods that are making them ill. For the person without the food intolerance, they become more aware of what they are eating. Before, Alyssa didn’t realize how many times a day she snacked until she started writing it down. People sometimes eat unconsciously, not realizing what the calories they are ingesting. If they were to keep a food journal they would then make the conscious effort to eat more nutritiously. Knowing that they will have to write down everything that they ate in a day might stop them before they make a bad decision.

We noticed that Trader Joe's is a healthy option compared to Shoprite. They offer a variety of organic foods from milk to popcorn. They appeal to a wide variety of eaters. This includes vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, sodium free, etc. On their shelves, they have clearly marked signs labeling what is in their food. Their website was full of information. They had recipes for their products, along with descriptions of their products. Shoprite does not offer as many options for people with food intolerances. People have to search through aisles and ingredient labels to find foods suitable for them. Shoprite’s website was not quite as helpful to people with food intolerances. They do not list specific food items, like Trader Joe’s. They do however, give explanations for different types of dietary restrictions.

If we had more time, we would have talked about how I am healthier now compared to before. We would have gone into more detail about how I ate before compared to how I eat now. We also would have gone into how committed I am now that way I won't get sick.
